UN Conference of States Parties
Between December 11 and 15, I had the privilege of attending the UN Conference of States Parties (COSP) in Atlanta. During this significant event, I seized the opportunity to address Congressmen and top lawmakers, shedding light on the need for sanctions against corrupt regimes in Russia and Azerbaijan, particularly the Magnitsky sanctions.
In front of this distinguished audience, I shared my personal experiences of corruption and the unlawful seizure of assets and businesses in both countries. Additionally, I engaged in one-on-one discussions with influential American political figures, providing insights into my situation and the broader issues in Azerbaijan, including the concerning practices of money laundering and illicit gains by the ruling family.
The response was encouraging, with a keen interest in strategies to elevate these concerns to the highest levels, encompassing the UN, the US Ministry of Justice, and Congress. Currently, a team of legal advisors and I are gearing up for meetings in Washington DC, where we aim to advocate for the implementation of sanctions against all relevant individuals involved.
